RecRight Video Interview: Candidate Support Guide
Use the current RecRight candidate support map to route access, recording, deadline, and completion questions, with two realistic support examples.

RecRight’s current candidate guidance covers pre-recorded, timed, and real-time interviews. Its regular pre-recorded guide distinguishes saved drafts from answers sent to the recruiter, while its deadline page says the recruiter controls extensions. Allowed takes depend on hiring-team settings. Use the article matching your format, collect exact technical evidence for RecRight support, and ask the hiring organisation about deadline, role, application status, or process choices. Do not guess whether a link failure means an expired invitation, unsupported browser, or employer change. The two examples below show how to write a useful access report and how to request a deadline change from the party who owns it. They are support exercises, not interview answers or promises about what RecRight will approve.
TL;DR
- RecRight publishes separate candidate guidance for regular pre-recorded, timed, and real-time interviews.
- In its regular flow, an unsent recording remains a draft until the candidate sends and confirms it.
- Send technical evidence to the platform support route.
- Ask the hiring organisation about deadline or process decisions.
- Never diagnose a failed link from the error alone.
What does the RecRight support collection cover?
The current regular pre-recorded guide says candidates open the invitation link, accept the privacy policy, provide required details, view the questions, grant camera and microphone access, record, stop, and review. A recording left without the final send action remains a draft and is not sent to the recruiter. The guide says completion requires sending and confirming, after which a separate email confirms completion.
RecRight’s overview says allowed takes vary from one to unlimited based on hiring-team settings. Its deadline article says the deadline appears in the invitation and at the top of the interview page. Recruiters decide extensions, and technical support cannot grant them. These instructions apply to their stated context. The detailed navigation page explicitly covers a regular video interview, so do not transfer its controls to timed or real-time formats.
If you are comparing terminology, use the one-way interview overview for general context only.
Where should each problem go?
| Candidate problem | Evidence to collect, likely owner, and inference to avoid |
|---|---|
| Invitation access | Collect the link source, device, browser, time, and exact error. Use the relevant RecRight candidate article or support route for technical access. Ask the employer if the invitation appears wrong or closed. Do not guess that the link expired. |
| Technical setup | Collect operating system, browser version, camera and microphone permission state, and steps tried. Use platform guidance for supported setup. Do not claim hardware failure without a test. |
| Recording questions | Note the interview type, on-screen instruction, and what happened before recording. Use the matching recording article. Do not transfer a rule from a real-time guide to a pre-recorded interview. |
| Completion status | Keep the final screen, time, and any receipt. Check the candidate article about sending answers. Ask support if confirmation is unclear. Do not assume a closed tab means delivery. |
| Employer process questions | Copy the deadline, role, and employer contact. Ask the hiring organisation about extensions, wrong interviews, or application status. Do not imply RecRight can change an employer decision. |
The owner can change after diagnosis. A technical error may belong to RecRight support, while the deadline consequence still belongs to the hiring organisation. Give each party the facts it can act on.
Before sending anything, choose the current candidate article matching regular pre-recorded, timed, or real-time interviewing. Keep your message short enough that the owner can find the failure, environment, and deadline immediately. If you later receive new evidence, reply in the same thread so the sequence remains clear.
How do you report a technical problem clearly?
Start with the action that failed, then state the environment and time. Quote the visible error exactly. List only the troubleshooting steps you actually completed. Include the deadline so support can understand urgency, but do not demand a process outcome from a technical team.
Avoid cause language such as “your server deleted my interview” unless evidence proves it. A useful report separates observation from interpretation. It also excludes interview answers and unnecessary personal information.
The technical interview checklist can help you gather device evidence before contacting support.
Before the real interview, use three free timed prompts to rehearse delivery. This is a separate local practice tool and does not reproduce RecRight’s controls.

Four questions in a row, then a scored report
That was one, and you marked it yourself. The full mock runs four questions written for your firm and role, back to back, and scores every one of them. One free run. No card needed.

What are two useful support examples?
Report an invitation that will not open
Subject: Candidate interview link does not open in two tested browsers. I received the link from the recruitment email at 09:12 on 5 September. At 09:30 I opened it on a MacBook using the latest Safari and saw the message “page unavailable.” At 09:38 I tried the latest Chrome on the same connection and saw the same text. Camera and microphone permissions were not requested because the interview page did not load. I also tried a different home connection at 09:50 with the same result. My invitation deadline is 17:00 BST on 6 September. The hiring organisation is shown as Northfield Services and the role is service coordinator. I have attached a screenshot of the error without interview content. Please advise which current candidate support step applies. I have not assumed that the invitation is expired or that my submission has started.
Why it works: it gives source, device, browser, time, error, deadline, and tested steps while leaving the cause open.
Ask for a deadline change
Subject: Request about the current video interview deadline. My invitation shows a deadline of 12:00 BST on 8 September for the operations assistant role. A building-wide internet outage began at 08:20 today, and the provider’s status page gives an estimated restoration after that deadline. I tested the invitation yesterday on the same laptop and it opened normally. I can use an alternative location from 15:00 today, or complete the interview tomorrow morning if the hiring team can change the deadline. I understand the employer owns the recruitment schedule, so I am asking the recruitment contact shown in the invitation rather than assuming platform support can approve an extension. I can provide the outage reference if useful. Please confirm whether the current deadline remains in force or whether a specific new time is authorised.
Why it works: it asks the decision owner, states the current deadline and evidence, proposes options, and does not treat an extension as automatic.
How should you prepare before using support?
Open the invitation early enough to distinguish access from content questions. Record your device, browser, and operating system. Check camera and microphone permissions without starting a real response unless the interface says it is a test.
Use RecRight’s collection to select the article matching pre-recorded, timed, or real-time interviewing. The presence of multiple topic pages is a reason to classify the format carefully.
Keep the employer contact beside the support link. Questions about a wrong interview, a closed interview, or a deadline can involve employer-controlled decisions even when the technical surface belongs to RecRight.
For answer preparation, use practice question planning. Do not send your answer content in a technical ticket.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is RecRight a live or one-way interview platform?
It supports more than one format. RecRight publishes separate guidance for pre-recorded, timed, and real-time interviews, while your invitation identifies the format assigned by the employer.
Does every employer use the same settings?
No. RecRight says the hiring team defines settings such as allowed takes. Read the instructions attached to your own interview.
Will I get practice before the real questions?
The regular pre-recorded guide allows unsent draft recordings, but this does not prove the same practice flow for timed or real-time interviews. Follow the guide matching your invitation.
Can I re-record an answer?
It depends on the hiring team’s settings. RecRight says allowed takes can range from one to unlimited, so check your interview before deleting or replacing a draft.
Where should I check the deadline and technical rules?
Check the invitation and the top of the interview page for the deadline, then use RecRight’s current candidate guidance for technical rules. Reply to the original invitation for recruiter-owned process questions.
