Privacy policy

This policy covers hirevuepractice.com and app.hirevuepractice.com. It is written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@hirevuepractice.com and ask.

Who is responsible for your data

Necessary cookies keep sign-in working. On hirevuepractice.com, analytics cookies, session replay and Ahrefs load only after you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner. If you choose “Necessary only”, or do not choose, PostHog still counts page views, but it stores nothing on your device and records no replay. The cookie banner does not cover the app at app.hirevuepractice.com: there, PostHog analytics and session replay run for signed-in sessions. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, PostHog does not load on either site. Support chat (Crisp) loads on both sites whatever you choose, so you can always reach us, and it may set technical cookies needed to run the chat.

Your account details and practice answers are needed to deliver account-based practice. Without them, we cannot provide that service. Payment details are needed only if you buy credits. You can browse guides without providing these details. Bug reports are optional.

What we collect

You can browse without an account. Basic hosting and analytics data is collected when you visit. You can read every guide without an account. Practice runs are linked to your account.

When you create an account, our sign-in provider Clerk stores your email address and your name. If you sign up with Google, Google passes us your name, your email address and your profile picture, and nothing else. We never see or receive your Google password.

Our host, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived server logs that include IP addresses, as every web server does. We use them to keep the site up and to stop abuse.

We use PostHog to count page views and see which guides people find useful. It records the pages visited, the country, and the browser type. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share this data with advertisers.

PostHog also records a replay of how pages are used, meaning your clicks, your scrolling, where your mouse goes and what the page shows, so we can see where a page confuses people. Because it records what is on screen, a replay can include your name or email address where a page displays them. Everything you type is hidden. Every form field is masked before the recording leaves your browser, so the replay never contains what you type into a form, including your email address, your password or a practice answer. Your practice answers and the feedback lines that quote them are hidden on screen too, and the copies of your typing that grammar extensions such as Grammarly add to the page are blocked.

Your camera

The practice run offers an optional camera preview so you can see yourself the way an employer would. If you turn it on, the video is shown back to you in the page and nothing else happens to it. It is never recorded, never uploaded, and never reaches our servers or anyone else's. Close the tab and it is gone.

Your microphone and practice answers

Your microphone is used during a run. Audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider, Groq, or OpenRouter if Groq fails, to produce a transcript. Provider data collection is turned off. We do not store your audio. Transcripts and grades are stored with your account.

We send your answers, as transcripts or as the text you type, to a language model to produce feedback. The model runs on Google Cloud (Vertex AI, Gemini models), with OpenRouter as the fallback. A free practice answer typed on one of our guides is graded through OpenRouter. On OpenRouter, provider data collection is denied.

If you add a resume or a job description before a run, its text is sent to the same AI providers to write questions tailored to you. PDFs are read in your browser and only the extracted text is sent. We do not store that text on our servers; your browser keeps a copy on that device so you do not have to paste it again.

How our AI feedback works

A language model uses your answer and the question to generate scores and suggested improvements. Scores are practice feedback only and may be wrong. No human reviews them, and no employer receives them. They do not reflect an employer's evaluation or affect your standing with an employer.

We also use Ahrefs for website traffic analytics. Its script receives technical request information, including your IP address and browser headers, and information about the pages you visit. See Ahrefs' privacy policy for details.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States; we are reviewing their transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, and you can contact us for the available details or copies.

Data from Google

What we receive from your Google account is used only to create and run your account here. We do not transfer it to anyone else except the providers in the table above, we do not use it for advertising, and no human at HireVue Practice reads it except to answer a support request you send us.

Cookies

Clerk sets a necessary cookie to keep you signed in, and Crisp may set technical cookies needed to provide support chat on every page. On hirevuepractice.com, if you allow analytics, PostHog sets a first-party cookie so a returning visitor is not counted twice, and Ahrefs may set technical cookies needed for analytics. In the app, PostHog sets that cookie for signed-in sessions. There are no advertising cookies on this site. You can clear the saved choice in your browser storage to be asked again.

How long we keep it

Your interview data, including runs, transcripts and grades, is deleted 12 months after your last activity. Your account data stays until you delete your account. Payment records may remain for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a matter of days. Analytics data is kept for up to twelve months.

Delete your account

You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent. If you delete your account through Clerk directly, an hourly check removes the account data we hold.

Your rights

You can request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, and a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing. These rights apply subject to the conditions in data protection law.

Write to hello@hirevuepractice.com. We respond within one month. For complex or numerous requests, we may need up to two additional months. We will explain any extension within the first month.

You can complain to the CNIL, 3 Place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is for people applying for jobs. It is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
